Is this for you?

A shared place to begin when feelings are hard to put into words

This journal may be especially helpful when both parent and child care deeply, but conversations do not always begin easily.

Your child often says “I don’t know” or struggles to explain what is happening inside.

You want connection without forcing a long or perfect conversation.

Feelings, body signals, or emotional needs are difficult to notice and name.

You need a gentler way to reflect after disagreements or intense moments.

You would like a simple shared ritual that supports listening, appreciation, and trust.

You do not need a perfect weekly routine. Open one page, draw, talk, use a Body Cues image, or return later.

The heart behind the journal

Created to help loving families meet in the middle

Across many years in counselling spaces, Jeny often saw the same quiet gap: a parent could sense that something was troubling their child, while the child did not yet have the words to explain it.

This journal was created as a shared place to pause, listen, appreciate, remember, and sometimes repair.

Created by Jeny Bluebridge, founder of JoyClik™. Jeny is a qualified counsellor and former full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), now retired from client-facing counselling practice. The journal is professionally grounded and counselling-informed, shaped by counselling experience with adults, children, parents, and families, together with professional supervision and structured, mandatory professional development during her practising NZAC membership.

What families are saying

Real reflections from families using the journal to make space for conversation, shared reflection, and connection.

Drawing helped the conversation begin

It’s been really lovely having that time to slow down and properly listen to each other. We’ve had some brilliant conversations, and it’s become something we both look forward to each week.

GloriaBristol

We used the page that fit the moment

Life gets pretty busy in our house, so it’s been really nice to slow down and spend that time together. We’ve had some lovely conversations, and now we genuinely look forward to getting the journal out.

GabbyChristchurch

Something meaningful to keep

We honestly didn’t realise how much we needed those chats. The journal helped us open up and connect in a way we really weren’t expecting.

Parent & Child Reflection Journal FAQs

Helpful details about ages, digital and printable use, the household licence, and the included Body Cues images.

What is the Parent & Child Reflection Journal, and what age is it for?

It is a 142-page guided digital journal for shared reflection between a parent or caregiver and child. It is designed primarily for ages 7–12 and may be adapted for ages 5–6 with active adult support and careful choice of suitable prompts.

Is it digital, which pages are fillable, and can I print it?

It is an A4 portrait PDF delivered as a download after checkout; no physical item is shipped. Selected prompt spaces and extra full notes pages are fillable. Other pages are for reading, drawing, circling, colouring, annotation, conversation, or printing. Adobe Acrobat Reader is recommended for typed entries, although PDF features vary by device and app.

How often should we use the journal?

There is no fixed schedule. Use the twelve weekly reflections, open one page after a difficult moment, work through the five parts slowly, or return only when it feels useful for your family.

Can I use it with more than one child?

Yes, within your own household. The personal single-household licence allows the purchaser to download, print, and annotate copies for use with their own child or children. The files may not be shared outside the household or used commercially.

What is included in the Body Cues pack, and how can I print it?

The complimentary ZIP contains 35 individually named transparent PNG images: 26 round designs based on 100 × 100 mm artwork and 9 square designs at 2000 × 2000 px. Can the journal be used on its own?

Yes. It is a complete standalone shared-reflection journal. It can also be paired with Emotion Coaching at Home™ when you want practical emotion cards and parent prompts alongside deeper reflection.

Was it created with professional insight, and does it replace therapy?

It was created by Jeny Bluebridge, a qualified counsellor and former full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), now retired from client-facing counselling practice. It is an educational, counselling-informed family resource—not therapy, counselling, diagnosis, medical or mental-health advice, crisis support, child-protection support, or a replacement for professional care.

Because this product is supplied by digital download, returns and exchanges are generally not available once access has been provided, except where required by applicable consumer law.
